AI App: Searching in the content of images
"Isn't AI just going to make you dumber?" A workshop attendee asked me this question recently. If you're a college student having AI write your essays, then yes, you're getting dumber by not struggling through hard topics.
If you're a professional using AI, it's probably the wrong question to ask.
How about asking "What can AI do for you?"
For example, I have hundreds of handmade drawings I created to explain PM concepts. Searching for them is super annoying. The Mac Spotlight search usually can't even find files by keywords in a filename (another fail for Apple "Intelligence").
So I vibe coded an image search. In less than 2 hours of chatting/prompting (over a couple days), I created a fully functional image search.
It finds keywords in a filename even when there are misspellings. I can now search for "double-diamond" and it finds files with misspellings in the filename like "doble-diamond"...note that the Mac search can't do this.
And more importantly it can find images based on the content of the images. I can search for "thought bubble" and find all the images that include drawings of thought bubbles.
It's ugly but It's already saving me several minutes per day. Wish I had done this sooner.

I used Claude Code from the Mac terminal window. I have the Claude Pro Plan at $20/month and used $3 of Claude API calls to index the images.
